In the News: Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild's Crescen Dough Auction includes evening of dinner, Kosmic Mama, more than 500 auction items
Posted on March 26th, 2013
If you think of crashing cymbals as the ultimate crescendo in a work of music, the Crescen Dough Auction could be the equivalent of fundraisers for the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. The HSO Guild is holding its 40th annual event on April 5 in the South Hall Ballrooms of the Von Braun Center, with dinner, music and more than 500 items up for grabs in live and silent auctions.
"The Crescen Dough Auction is a casual, fun-filled evening," Samantha Bentley, who is co-chairing the event along with Beth Wise, said. "With 540 items to be auctioned, there is something for everyone." Items range in value from $20 to $14,500, Bentley said.
In the News: Painted Violin raises money for Huntsville Symphony Orchestra's free Family Concert
Posted on March 1st, 2013
Some instruments aren't for playing. With strings made from hundreds of vintage Swarovski and Czech crystals, the 2013 Painted Violin is meant for admiring - and for raising money so others can enjoy the music of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.
The violin, created by Huntsville native Patrick Culpepper, will be auctioned at the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild's 2013 Crescen-Dough Auction on April 5 at the Von Braun Center South Hall ballrooms. The money raised each year from the painted violin project helps pay for the HSO's free family concert, said Samantha Bentley, who is chairing the auction with co-chair Beth Wise.
